Legendary Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin was under attack because he supports Vladimir Putin during the conflict with Ukraine, so much so that they don't even say his name during the broadcast of NHL matches!


Just such a case was recorded on Finnish television, where the commentator Tero Kainulainen refused to call Ovechkin by name - even though he is a hockey legend!


Whenever he had the Washington Cardinals ace with him, the Finnish commentator called him "the captain of the home team" or "the man with the beard", but in the meantime he confirmed that it was all because of the Russian president whose joint photo Ovechkin keeps as a profile on social media..


Ovechkin arrived in the NHL in 2005 from Dinamo Moscow and has always been a member of one club - Washington. He was the best scorer in the league nine times, which is a record for the competition, he scored the most goals in the history of the NHL (276), he won the 2018 Stanley Cup, he was eight times in the season.


However, all his successes were thrown into the background because he refused to condemn Putin and Russia because of Ukraine, and hence his name is not mentioned during the broadcast.

Vadym Boychenko said the death toll could surpass 20,000, as weeks of attacks and privation leave the bodies of Mariupol’s people “carpeted through the streets” in an interview by phone on Monday with the Associated Press.
